GMED GLOBAL NOW OFFERING RAPID COVID-19 PCR TESTING IN HOUSTON
HOUSTON (PRWEB) FEBRUARY 10, 2021
Rapid COVID Clinic Delivers Next-Day Test Results for Travelers
As new, highly contagious strains of the coronavirus are rapidly circulating around the world, the Centers for Disease Control is recommending that all travelers take a viral test one to three days before travel as a way to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. In response to the CDC’s travel guidelines and to help travelers meet the requirements for airline travel, GMED Global, LLC, an international health care institution specializing in medical education and health care workforce development and solutions for government and non-government organizations, today announced that it is offering next day PCR testing at both of its Houston Rapid COVID Clinics. Widely regarded as the gold standard in viral testing, Rapid COVID Clinic’s next day PCR testing offers travelers convenient, drive through access and highly accurate results with a quick turnaround.
“We recognize that COVID fatigue is real and after months of being stuck at home people are eager to travel,” said Dr. Ramin Ahmadi, Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of GMED. “At the same time, the pandemic remains a serious threat and we want to help ensure that travelers, airline employees, and airport workers are as safe as possible. Rigorous testing remains critical to getting this virus under control, and by offering next-day PCR testing we can detect the presence of the virus through a highly-sensitive test and inform people whether it’s safe for them to travel with precautions or act quickly to isolate, seek treatment and prevent new infections.”
GMED utilizes the TaqPath COVID-19 Combo Kit test that was developed by Green Street Technologies. This test has emergency use authorization from the FDA and includes a pain-free nasal swab administered by test-site personnel. This highly accurate test directly detects the presence of COVID-19 and test results are returned the next day. PCR testing requirements vary by destination, and GMED recommends that travelers check with their airlines and travel destination to confirm which type of RT-PCR test is approved.
GMED GLOBAL OFFERS RAPID COVID-19 TESTING CLINICS AS NEW CORONAVIRUS INFECTIONS CONTINUE TO SURGE
PITTSBURGH (WFMZ-TV) January 29, 2021
New Pittsburgh Location Offers Easy Access and Fast, Highly Accurate Results
As coronavirus continues to surge across most of the United States and the Centers for Disease Control is reporting a 7-day average of more than 1.2 million new COVID-19 cases each day, the need for accurate testing remains vital to fighting the pandemic. To support efforts to help contain the spread of the deadly virus, GMED Global, LLC, an international health care institution specializing in medical education and health care workforce development and solutions for government and non-government organizations, today announced that it is expanding its Rapid COVID Clinics with the opening of a new testing site in Pittsburgh. Located in a heated, covered testing site near the Pittsburgh International Airport. GMED’s new Rapid COVID Clinics offer patients the convenience of drive-in testing and same-day, highly accurate results.
“The introduction of new vaccines and improved therapeutics for active COVID-19 infections have given all of us cause for hope,” said Dr. Ramin Ahmadi, Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of GMED. “At the same time, we recognize that we have a long way to go before we get this virus under control and can return to a more normal way of life. As new, highly contagious variants of the virus spread, we must maintain rigorous testing so that anyone who tests positive for COVID can act quickly to isolate, seek treatment and prevent new infections.”
GMED GLOBAL PARTNERS WITH HEALTHCARE FOR THE HOMELESS - HOUSTON TO PROVIDE RAPID COVID TESTING
HOUSTON (PRWEB) December 21, 2020
The partnership helps supports early intervention and helps contain the spread of the virus among a highly vulnerable population
With temperatures dropping to near-freezing and a long winter ahead, groups who work with people who are homeless face the particularly daunting task of providing aid during a deadly pandemic. To support early intervention and treatment among this highly vulnerable population, GMED Global, LLC, an international institution specializing in medical education and health care workforce development and solutions, today announced that it has partnered with Healthcare for the Homeless – Houston (HHH). Through its partnership with HHH, Houston’s only stand-alone, homeless-specific Federally Qualified Health Center, GMED’s Rapid COVID Clinics have already processed more than 300 rapid COVID tests in homeless shelters as part of a broader strategy to prevent outbreaks and contain the spread of the coronavirus.
“People living in congregate settings face a higher risk of infection, and men and women who are living in shelters and in encampments are in great need of access to COVID-19 testing,” said Ms. Frances Isbell, CEO of HHH. “We’ve been fortunate in Houston that we haven’t experienced any significant outbreaks on the streets or in encampments, and our testing program for the shelters has given us peace of mind that we are continuing to provide a safe, healthy environment.”
GMED GLOBAL OFFERS RAPID COVID-19 TESTING FOR HOLIDAY TRAVELERS TO SUPPORT SAFE GATHERINGS
HOUSTON (PRWEB) November 24, 2020
Drive Through Testing Sites Offer Easy Access and Fast, Highly Accurate Results for Thanksgiving Travelers and Returning College Students
As COVID-19 infection rates continue to skyrocket and the Centers for Disease Control urges Americans to stay home to limit the spread of the virus, more than 1 million travelers passed through airport security checkpoints over the weekend before Thanksgiving. To help holiday travelers and college students returning home determine if they have been infected with the virus, GMED Global, LLC, an international health care institution specializing in medical education and health care workforce development and solutions for government and non-government organizations, today announced updated holiday hours for rapid COVID-19 testing at its three Rapid COVID Clinics. GMED encourages anyone who will be gathering with people outside of their household to get tested first to limit the spread of the coronavirus. COVID testing is available at GMED’s two Houston locations and its clinic in Old Town Scottsdale by appointment or for drop-ins, with results provided the same day.
RAPID TESTS FOR CORONAVIRUS ARE THE BEST WAY FORWARD, ESPECIALLY FOR SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN
By Dr. Ramin Ahmadi - HARTFORD COURANT | Sept. 6, 2020
I am a dad with two teenage boys who are about to go back to school. Like all other parents, I have anxiety about sending them to school these days. Even with the masks, social distancing and all other new protocols, there is little certainty that they will be safe.
But perhaps unlike most fathers, I am also a physician and a public health expert. I have traveled to Texas and Arizona at the peak of the pandemic to set up COVID-19 test centers. Since March, I have spent hours providing consultation to various industries, from federally qualified health centers to mining and film studios, to advise them on testing, safe reopening and operations.
But no safe reopening strategy is more frustrating, or hits closer to home, than those of high schools. This September, my sons must meet an additional health requirement: a negative COVID-19 test measured by a test called rRT-PCR (real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction). It requires an advanced lab, trained personnel and a lot of time. The virus genetic material is extracted, then copied or amplified through many cycles of heating and cooling that take on average 6-8 hours. Since no laboratory can perform and deliver these test results sooner than 48-72 hours, most schools accept the results from a test done two to three days earlier.
However, the scientific evidence does not suggest that this protocol is effective at all in detecting the infected cases.
GMED GLOBAL OFFERS 3-IN-1 TESTING FOR COVID-19 AND INFLUENZA A AND/OR B VIRUS
SCOTTSDALE (PRWEB) December 4, 2020
Drive through clinics offer rapid testing to diagnose infection caused by one of three viruses and supports proper course of treatment
As winter approaches and colder weather brings more people indoors, the risk of spreading viruses increases dramatically. A bad flu season can strain healthcare resources, and with this year’s double-whammy of flu season coinciding with the raging coronavirus pandemic, healthcare workers are preparing for an overwhelming number of patients. To help accurately diagnose patients who are suffering from a range of symptoms, GMED Global, LLC, an international institution specializing in medical education and health care workforce development and solutions, today announced that it is offering 3-in-1 COVID-19 and flu testing at its three Rapid COVID Clinics. The rapid test accurately detects infection caused by COVID-19 and Influenza A and/or B viruses, helping the patient to determine the proper course of treatment.
“Infection rates for COVID-19 have been steadily rising across the United States for several weeks, and we expect the spread of the virus to spike following the Thanksgiving holiday,” said Dr. Ramin Ahmadi, Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of GMED. “Since symptoms of the coronavirus often overlap with those caused by the seasonal flu, this rapid test serves as an important diagnostic tool by identifying whether a patient has been infected and by what illness. Armed with accurate information, patients can seek appropriate medical treatment and follow appropriate precautions to prevent further spread of these viruses.”
I’M A DOCTOR AND YOU COULD GET COVID IF YOU GO HERE
By Emilia Paluszek - Yahoo!Life | Sept. 21, 2020
"If you are thinking about avoiding a place for the fear of COVID infection, then think twice about going home! The latest data show that the majority of COVID infections happen within households and here's why – masking up and social distancing has reduced community spread," says Ramin Ahmadi, MD. "If you want your household members to be very safe, then get a rapid test as soon as you suspect exposure or show symptoms of the coronavirus."
SOME OLDER AMERICANS ARE LINING UP FOR COVID VACCINE - BUT OTHERS ARE MORE CAUTIOUS
Marketwatch - December 21, 2020
That sentiment was echoed by Dr. Ramin Ahmadi, a former assistant professor of medicine at Yale who is now chief medical officer for GMED Global, a health care consulting firm.
“Yes, they developed these vaccines faster than we were able to in the past. But I don’t think they cut any corners,” Ahmadi says. “I will be among the first people in line to get a vaccine.”
IS THE COVID-19 VACCINE SAFE?
MIRA - December 16, 2020
Coronavirus vaccines have been the best hope in order for the coronavirus pandemic to end. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) began authorizing the emergency use of a COVID-19 vaccine. This article breaks down the following questions:
What is the process that companies must go through to ensure the production of a safe vaccine?
How long after getting the vaccine is it effective?
Are the coronavirus vaccines safe?
What kind of side effects of the COVID-19 vaccines should I be concerned about?
This article consists of an interview with Dr. Ramin Ahmadi, MD, MPH. Dr. Ahmadi is the Chief Medical Officer for Graduate Medical Education Global LLC. and a former assistant professor of medicine at Yale School of Medicine.
